Field Experiments.

Small experiments, honest observations.
We test small ideas, watch what happens, and update our thinking about where robotics can create practical value.

Why Experiments

We don't always know where a promising idea will lead.

So we test small things, observe what happens, and update our thinking. These experiments are deliberately simple, practical, and sometimes inconclusive.

Bright / Dim / Dark

A small experiment exploring how changing illumination affects what a robot can see and understand.

Same scene, same rig, three lighting conditions.

Question

How much does the visual environment itself change the difficulty of a robotic perception task?

Experiment

Test the same visual task under bright, dim, and dark conditions, while keeping the rest of the setup as consistent as possible.

Observation

The same physical environment can become a substantially different perception problem when illumination changes.

What Surprised Me

The boundary between a simple robotics problem and a difficult one is often not the robot itself, but the conditions it has to operate in.

Next Question

Which environmental variables create the largest changes in reliability, and which can be handled through relatively simple sensing or system changes?

Status

Early observation. More testing needed.

Working Principle

Don't start with
the answer.

Start with an experiment. The goal isn't to make every test look successful — it's to make our assumptions visible, test them against reality, and keep updating our understanding of where robotics can create practical value.
